Cecily strong
Cecily Legler Strong (born February 8th 1984) is an American actress, comedian as well as a producer and singer. Strong is known best for her part as a Saturday Night Live cast member from 2012 until 2022. Strong is also the longest-tenured female cast member in the history of the show. Strong was recruited for SNL when she was performing improv at The Second City in Chicago which is where she relocated after she graduated from CalArts. She is the present host of the Apple TV+ musical comedy program Schmigadoon! (2021-present) in which she is also co-producing.
Other roles she's been in includes voice-overs in The Awesomes (2013-2015), as well as supporting roles in films such as Ghostbusters, The Meddler and The Female Brain. She was host of the White House Correspondents' Dinner in 2015. In 2021, her debut book The Memoir This Is Going to be Over Soon Soon, was published.
In recognition of her performance in Saturday Night Live, she was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series at the 72nd and the 73rd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Early life
Strong was born and was raised in Springfield, Illinois. She is the daughter of Penelope Strong and William "Bill" Strong, who were both Associated Press bureau chiefs and, as of 2013, owned their own public relations company. Penny Legler Strong, a nurse practitioner who worked extensively in hospitals of the region and is now retired. Strong's parents divorced. Strong was attracted by SNL from a young age. She enjoyed reenacting sketches with a friend and watching old SNL commercials on VHS. "I had a tape containing the top commercials that I used every day. She's stated that she was influenced by the late Phil Hartman.
